Diocles of Corinth : ウィキペディア英語版
Diocles of Corinth
Diocles of Corinth ((ギリシア語:Διοκλῆς)) was an ancient Greek athlete from Corinth who won the stadion race of the 13th Ancient Olympic Games in 728 BC.〔Eusebius. ''(Chronicon )'' (English translation from Latin, original Greek lost) at Attalus.org〕 The stadion race (about 180 meters) was the only competition in the first 13 Olympiads.
Diocles is said to have been the lover of Philolaos of the Bacchiadae family who became a Nomothete (lawmaker) in Thebes. Diocles then left Corinth to live with Philolaos in Thebes. They lived together for the rest of their lives and were buried in adjoining tombs.〔Aristotle. ''Politics'', 1274a31–b5.〕
